About TOOLS411

TOOLS411 is a small, independent website with one job: give you the right tool for a quick everyday job — converting a measurement, checking a percentage, counting the words in a letter — without making you sign up, download anything, or fight through a cluttered page to find the answer.

How our tools work

Every tool on TOOLS411 runs entirely inside your web browser. When you type a number into our length converter, the math happens on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, because for most everyday tools there is no reason it should be. That makes the tools fast, and it makes them private by design: we cannot store, sell or lose data we never receive.

Built to be easy to read

Most tool websites are crammed with ads, pop-ups and tiny grey text. We took the opposite approach: large type, big buttons and input boxes, strong contrast, and one clear job per page. If a tool takes more than a few seconds to understand, we consider that a bug and we fix it.

How the site is paid for

TOOLS411 is free to use. In time, the site may be supported by advertising, shown clearly as advertising and kept out of the way of the tools themselves. Advertising never changes a conversion factor, a formula or a result — the math is the math, and every formula we use is published on the tool's own page so you can check it yourself.

Put a tool on your phone's home screen

Use one tool all the time? You can give it its own icon on your phone's home screen, just like an app — tap it and the tool opens directly, full-screen. There is nothing to install from an app store and it costs nothing: your phone is simply saving a shortcut to that tool's page, with our icon and the tool's name.

On an iPhone (Safari): open the tool, tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up), scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.

On an Android phone (Chrome): open the tool, tap the three-dot menu in the top corner, and tap Add to Home screen (or Install app if that is what your phone offers), then confirm.

Each tool can have its own icon, so your home screen can hold the Mortgage Calculator next to the Tip Calculator if those are your two. Removing one is the same as removing any app icon — it deletes only the shortcut, never anything on our side.

Your favorites, remembered — no account

Every tool card on the homepage has a star in its corner, and every tool page has an "Add this tool to your favorites" button. Star the tools you use most and they gather in a Your Favorites section at the top of the homepage, waiting for you next visit. There is no account and no sign-in: the list is kept in your own browser, on your own device, and is never sent to us. Two honest consequences of that design — the list lives per device and per browser (your phone's favorites are its own, separate from your computer's), and clearing your browser's site data clears the list. We think that is the right trade for never asking you to register.

Accuracy

Our converters use the standard international definitions: an inch is exactly 25.4 millimeters, a pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms, and Celsius-to-Fahrenheit follows the exact formula °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Results are rounded for display, and each tool page explains its formula and shows worked examples. If you ever spot a result you believe is wrong, please tell us through the contact page — accuracy reports go to the top of the list.
